An Islamic Antichrist?

With Christianity all but wiped out in the Middle East and becoming extinct in Western Europe, Islam seems destined to take over as the world's dominant religion.

Islam already dominates much of Africa, Asia and is spreading relentlessly throughout Eastern Europe as Christianity recedes. Though Christianity remains the dominant "religion" of North America, Islam is quickly becoming the fastest growing religion on that continent.

Islam is spreading so fast across the world right now that many so-called prophecy experts are predicting that the coming dreaded Antichrist will be Islamic. Some are even predicting that he will rise from Turkey since the Bible's Book of Revelation reveals that Satan once had his earthly throne in that region. (Revelation 2:13)

However, if the coming Antichrist is indeed going to be Islamic, then we have some serious questions that need to be answered because biblical prophecy clearly reveals the existence of Israel and a functioning Jewish Temple during the days of the Antichrist.

If the Antichrist is going to be Islamic then why would he allow Israel to exist? And why would he allow the Jewish nation to rebuild her coveted temple on Jerusalem's temple mount where the Al-Aqsa Mosque exists that Muslims consider their third holiest site? That simply makes no sense.

An Islamic Antichrist would never allow the existence of Israel and would never allow that nation to defile one of its holiest sites by constructing a temple next to it.

In fact, Iran has sworn to destroy Israel and eradicate all Jewish life from the face of the earth. That's why the Iranians are attempting to construct nuclear weapons--so they can annihilate Israel. According to Shiite theology, of which the Iranians subscribe to, Islam's messiah, the Imam Mahdi, cannot appear until all the Jews have been removed from the earth.

According to biblical prophecy, the Jews aren't going anywhere. Not only are they going to build a new temple, but the Antichrist is going to enter that temple and declare himself to the world as God.

Concerning that event, Jesus Christ warned: "So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination that causes desolation,' spoken of through the prophet Daniel--let the reader understand--then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak." (Matthew 24:15-18)

What event was Christ speaking of? He clearly revealed that when the Antichrist enters the Jewish Temple and defiles it with his presence, then the wrath of God will be poured out upon the world.

Thus, the question that begs to be answered is this one: If the Antichrist isn't going to be Islamic, then what will he be? And where will he come from?

We'll answer that question in part two.
