Wells Church: Right or Wrong?

I'd never heard of Wells Church (Nacogdoches, Texas) until recently when some of its members were arrested after they caused a disturbance at the Lakewood Church that's located in Houston, Texas.

For those of you not familiar with Lakewood, it's a popular megachurch pastored by the highly visible and controversial Joel Osteen. Lakewood has thousands of members who come weekly to hear Osteen tell them what a wonderful life they can enjoy if they trust in God to provide for all their material "needs." In the lexicon of the prosperity gospel, needs and wants are synonymous. 

Osteen's a prosperity guru and he's very good at preaching the prosperity gospel. Unfortunately, he isn't very good at preaching the biblical gospel that warns people not to put their faith and trust in money and material wealth to achieve personal happiness. 

But that's not a gospel that puts thousands of fannies in the seats of expansive auditoriums. However, the prosperity gospel fills auditoriums, especially if that gospel's delivered by a charismatic preacher who speaks and dresses very well. And Joel Osteen speaks and dresses as well as anyone who's in the prosperity gospel business. 

Some Wells members traveled to Osteen's palace on Sunday (June 28, 2015) and began loudly voicing their displeasure with the King of Success shortly after he launched into his sermon. Six members were arrested and charged with Class B criminal trespassing, which is a misdemeanor. Though I'm not an expert in the law, the six members will probably be fined and told to stay away from Lakewood if they're either convicted or they plead guilty. 

According to people who are familiar with Wells, the church is no stranger to controversy. Some folks label the church a cult, although that's a term applied to a lot of groups these days that take the Bible seriously. Evidently, there are some people who believe the folks at Wells take the Bible a little too seriously.

Matt Slick of www.carm.org, a website that critiques churches and their doctrines, said this about Wells: The Church is very tight knit, and exclusive. This makes sense since they teach that they are among the remnant of God's true believers and that the Christian church has been cursed for the past 2000 years.  This is problematic because it lays the intellectual foundation to teach a kind of "restored" or "true" teaching of Scripture. However, this does not automatically make them a cult.

Slick added this: Accusations of brainwashing have been rampant, where at least one set of parents (Andy and Patty Groves) have been prevented from seeing their daughter, Catherine, who gave away everything and joined the group. But, an accusation does not a cult make. Apparently, the daughter does not want to see her parents and she is old enough to make that choice. This alone does not mean it is a cult, but as things begin to add up and suspicious behavior becomes more evident, it makes us wonder what is going on.

A church that believes it alone possesses the truth while all the others embrace a lie is indeed a cult. A church that promotes civil disobedience as a strategy to combat false doctrine being taught in another church not only resorts to an unbiblical method, but it harms its cause and damages its reputation. How many people who witnessed the incident at Lakewood even realized what the protest was all about? Rather, they likely saw the protesters as misfits and clowns who were deserving of contempt.

The Wells members are right to stand up to the false teachings of prosperity gurus such as Osteen. But they're wrong when they go into someone else's church and attempt to disrupt the proceedings. The people who attend churches such as Lakewood desperately need to hear the true gospel of Jesus Christ because they aren't hearing it in those churches.

But they won't listen to fools who look and sound more ridiculous than the people they've come to see. Rather, they'll listen to people who act professionally and sound like they know what they're talking about. That's how you get them away from the big-time showmen and con artists who perform in the pulpits of big churches.

Or, as the apostle Paul wrote a long time ago:  "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction." (2 Timothy 4:1-2)

Gay Marriage and Sharia Law

How long will gay marriage remain legal in the United States? At least until Islam becomes the dominant religion in America. And then it will likely become illegal once again.

If Islam ever becomes the dominant religion in the United States, then Sharia Law will likely replace the Constitution, and gay marriage, a recent liberty granted by the Supreme Court, will be outlawed. In fact, if Sharia ever becomes the law of America, then gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders will be forced once again to go back into the closet. If not, then they'll likely be eliminated from society.

So will a lot of other folks such as Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, pagans etc. For now, there are only about seven million Muslims living in the U.S. that accounts for about two percent of the population. Though that doesn't sound like much, consider that American Muslims have already managed to gain for themselves the same favored-protected status as an identity group as gays. 

That means those who attempt to criticize their lifestyle, culture or religion will now come under the same condemnation and charges for discrimination and hate crimes as those who criticize the LGBT lifestyle. And that also means that Muslims are exempted from performing certain tasks in America that are forbidden by Sharia. 

Such as? Performing same-sex weddings. If your local church refuses to marry two members of the same sex because the pastor claims that the Bible condemns homosexuality, then your local church and its pastor can now be charged with discrimination. However, if your local mosque refuses to marry two members of the same sex because the Imam claims that the Koran condemns homosexuality, the couple will then be advised to find another venue that will perform the ceremony.

Certainly, both the Bible and the Koran condemn homosexuality. What does the Koran say about homosexuality? It says this: "If any of your women commit a lewd act, call four witnesses from among you, then, if they testify to their guilt, keep the women at home until death comes to them or until God gives them another way out. If two men commit a lewd act, punish them both; if they repent and mend their ways, leave them alone—God is ready to accept repentance from those who do evil out of ignorance and soon afterwards repent: these are the ones God will forgive." (Sura 4:15-16) 

It also says this: And We sent Lot as a Messenger: Remember that he said to his people, "Have you become so shameless that you commit such indecent acts as no one has committed before you in the world? You gratify your lust with men instead of women: indeed you are a people who transgress the limits! And We rained upon his people; then behold what happened in the end to the guilty ones!" (Sura 7:80-84) 

Here's what the Hadith (Sayings of Muhammad) teaches about homosexuality: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever you find doing the action of the people of Lot, execute the one who does it and the one to whom it is done." (Abu Dawud 4462) It also says this: "If a man who is not married is seized committing sodomy, he will be stoned to death." (Abu Dawud 4448)  

And it says this: "The Prophet cursed effeminate men (those men who are in the similitude (assume the manners of women) and those women who assume the manners of men, and he said, 'Turn them out of your houses .' The Prophet turned out such-and-such man, and 'Umar turned out such-and-such woman." (Bukhari 72:774)  

The Koran and the Hadith contain more verses that condemn the gay lifestyle than the Bible does. (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11) And yet, Christians are labeled as bigots for quoting scripture verses to condemn the gay lifestyle while Muslims are usually ignored when they quote the Koran and the Hadith to condemn that lifestyle.

Why is that? Because Islam is a religion that's historically been advanced by violence while Christianity has used peaceful methods to advance the gospel. Oh sure, there are those brain surgeons out there who'll point to the Crusades and the Inquisitions to try and find moral equivalence with Islam. 

However, those who've used violence to spread Christianity did so in opposition to what Christ taught while those who use violence to spread Islam do so in obedience to what Muhammad taught. 

Gays may be celebrating in America at the moment. However, that celebration could be short-lived if Islam continues to expand its influence throughout the U.S. If you don't think that will ever happen, then take a look at what's happening in Western Europe. That's an omen of America's future. 

Why We Are Where We Are

The U.S. Supreme Court

To put it mildly, conservatives throughout the United States just experienced a terrible week. The SCOTUS (Supreme Court of The United States) ruled that the government can provide state subsidies for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), and the court legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. 

Had the court ruled against the federal government concerning the state subsidies, the Affordable Care Act was doomed. Had the court ruled against gay marriage, the 13 states that banned it would've been allowed to continue banning it.

In addition to that, the Senate handed President Obama the unfettered authority he was seeking to negotiate international trade agreements such as the proposed TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) by ratifying the controversial "Obamatrade" bill 60-38. 

Certainly, in the short run, the Obamacare ruling will help low income people who can't afford the high costs for health insurance and pricey medicines. But in the long run? It will cause significant damage to the economy. Costs will skyrocket for health insurance premiums; taxes on medical equipment and medicines will rise, caps will be instituted on profits that insurance companies earn, payments to Medicare and Medicaid could be reduced even further and more costly regulations on healthcare providers, pharmecutical companies and manufacturers of medical devices will be imposed. 

That will cause many doctors to retire early creating a shortage; it will force even more employers to stop offering health insurance to their employees, it will result in shortages of medical devices and rationing of medicines, and it will bankrupt health insurance companies. And that will eventually lead to socialized medicine when the government becomes the sole provider of healthcare. That's what Obamacare aims to do and we're well on the way to seeing that happen. 

Concerning the court's ruling on same-sex marriage, that was hardly a surprise. Relentless pressure put on the culture by gay activists over the past 50 years to embrace their lifestyle finally paid off. Those activists bombarded the federal, state and local governments, media, civil rights and religious organizations, and the entertainment, education, music and sports industries with their agenda until they embraced it. 

The LGBT agenda wasn't something that sprang up overnight. It's been around for decades, but conservatives collectively ignored it and then foolishly decided to fight the agenda at the ballot box when they finally realized--too late--that it wasn't an anomaly. About the only people who were shocked by the court's 5-4 ruling in favor of gay marriage were conservatives who've been on a long losing streak in America.  

The Senate's passage of "Obamatrade" affects more than just conservatives. It opens the door to the passage of the highly-secretive and controversial TPP agreement that promises to be the most radical trade agreement ever passed by the U.S. government if it's ratified by the Congress. 

What's so controversial about it? It will eventually allow an international tribunal to determine who can build what and where in the 12 nations participating in TPP. The United States government would no longer have the authority over its manufacturing and heavy industries. If that happens, that would deal a death blow to America's private sector labor unions because many companies that employ union workers would find it easier to move to other countries where labor and manufacturing costs are much cheaper.

Indeed, America's landscape is changing, and not for the better. Many conservatives who are angry over the SCOTUS gay marriage ruling were quick to warn of divine judgment on America for the court's decision. But where were they 50 years ago when, like a deadly storm gathering on the horizon, the LGBT movement began rolling across the nation? They were asleep. And they subsequently lost their influence over the culture.

The members of the U.S. Supreme Court are part of that culture. They grew up in it and were influenced by it. And if they increasingly ignore the Constitution for bizarre interpretations that contradict the Constitution, then that's because they are applying their cultural worldview to the law rather than the Constitution. 

Here's the bizarre opinion of Supreme Court Justice John Roberts concerning the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage: "If you are among the many Americans—of whatever sexual orientation—who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today's decision. Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it." washingtoncbslocal.com

Roberts admitted that the court ignored the Constitution concerning gay marriage. He admitted that the court passed the law based upon the worldview of five justices rather than the ultimate rule of law, the Constitution. That's reprehensible and frightening.

Finally, a nation's leaders and the members of its highest court are a direct reflection of the culture they come from. If the culture is morally depraved, then that will be reflected in the leaders chosen by the people. Because wicked people choose wicked leaders after their own hearts. And America has become a wicked nation because her watchmen--conservatives and Christians--stopped influencing the culture and "contending for the faith" (Jude 1:3) a long time ago.

As they say: You reap what you sow.

Agenda 21 and World Government

What is Agenda 21? And why should folks who enjoy their freedom be concerned about this program?

According to the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), Agenda 21 is a voluntary action plan developed by the United Nations and national governments at the "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. At the Summit, governmental leaders around the world agreed on the need to become more sustainable—to meet today’s needs without sacrificing our future. Agenda 21 presents a vision for how all levels of government—especially in the developing world—can take voluntary action to combat poverty and pollution, conserve natural resources and develop in a sustainable manner. One-hundred-seventy-eight nations adopted the agenda, including the United States under the Bush Administration.

While that sounds like a good cause, Agenda 21 is in reality a transitioning agent for a new world order and a world government. Thus the old adage: The road to hell is paved with good intentions. And make no mistake about it. If the world's 193 nations implement Agenda 21, they will indeed be on the highway to hell.

The key word in the Agenda 21 program is "sustainability." In the lexicon of those who created the program, sustainability means population reduction and control. In other words, nearly everything about the program, from poverty eradication to lowering crime to environmentalism and access to healthcare centers around the elimination of millions, if not billions of people from the planet.

Globalists believe that the earth can only sustain a certain amount of people. They're convinced that overpopulation causes widespread poverty, disease, pollution and violent crime. Therefore, the population must be reduced.

Several recent studies show that Earth’s resources are enough to sustain only about 2 billion people at a European standard of living. An average European consumes far more resources than any of the poorest two billion people in the world. However, Europeans use only about half the resources of Americans, on average. Currently, over 7 billion of us are consuming about 50 percent more resources than Earth is producing – during any given time period. For example, in the past twelve months we have consumed the resources that it took the planet about eighteen months to produce. We are consuming our resource base. 

Is Agenda 21 some grand conspiracy to institute a global holocaust in order to lower the earth's population? No, not yet anyway. But globalists who belong to the United Nations and affiliated groups who are pushing the program realize that the earth's population can never be lowered and controlled unless the world is under the authority of a central government. Once a world government is in control, it will decide who stays and who goes.

Certainly, that's a lot easier said than done. Consider therefore, since Agenda 21 was adopted in 1992, we've seen a global increase in abortions, the promotion of the homosexual agenda, legalization of euthanasia in various countries and an expansion of sex education in public schools along with easier access to birth control aids such as condoms and pills.

And don't forget socialized medicine. When governments control healthcare, they decide who gets it and who doesn't. Those deemed too old or too risky for healthcare will be denied treatment and sent home to die. That's what socialized medicine is truly about rather than affordable healthcare coverage for the poor.

Remember Ezekiel Emanuel, the confrontational and loudmouthed doctor who stated that he wants to die at 75 because he believes human life deteriorates rapidly after that point? He was one of the authors of the dreadful Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) that mandates the creation of unelected tribunals (death panels) to decide who gets healthcare and who doesn't.

Though Agenda 21 is touted as a "voluntary" program or a guide for local, state and national governments, don't believe that. The U.N. and its affiliates spent too much time and money creating the program for it to be voluntary. It's designed to make it easier for nations to willingly cede their sovereignty to an international authority in preparation for a world government. And it's designed to make it easier for people to accept the loss of their individual freedoms for the "good" of the planet.

We are headed for a one-world government. Though many folks dismiss that as a fantasy and a conspiracy theory, it isn't. Three specific prophecies recorded thousands of years ago (Isaiah 10:13-14, Daniel 7:7, Revelation 13:1) reveal that a world government is going to rise in the last days directly preceding the return of Jesus Christ. And we're seeing those prophecies being fulfilled today through such stealth programs as Agenda 21.

And so, when you hear the words environmentalism, poverty eradication, healthcare, crime and sustainability mentioned together, understand the relationship. And realize what that means.

Bad Decisions and Ruined Lives

It's been almost 40 years since Patricia Columbo lived outside the walls of a prison. On May 4, 1976, she and her fiance, a man named Frank Deluca, murdered her parents Frank and Mary along with her brother Michael in their home in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. And on May 15, 1976, they were arrested for the brutal crimes.

Why did they do it? Columbo's parents, while not ultra-rich, had ample financial resources that Deluca believed Patricia could inherit if her parents died. In order to make that happen, they cooked up a scheme to murder Patricia's parents and make it look like a mob hit. Why did they murder Patricia's 13-year-old brother? To cut him out of the inheritance.

Patricia was only 20 years-old at the time of the murders. Her fiance was much older at 37. How did they meet? Patricia worked as a waitress in a restaurant near a Walgreens Pharmacy that Deluca managed. When Deluca visited the restaurant, he became physically-attracted to the then 16-year-old waitress and he seduced her.

At that time, Deluca was a married man with five children. He also liked sex and he enjoyed seducing impressionable young girls such as Columbo to satisfy his gargantuan libido. Evidently, Deluca's wife was aware of her husband's philandering and she threatened to divorce him unless he stopped cheating on her. When she discovered that her husband was having an affair with Patricia, she kicked him out of the house and filed for a divorce.

That's when Deluca proposed marriage to Patricia. Patricia's father, an overly protective parent with an Italian temper, hated Deluca because Deluca was a married man whom he knew wasn't in love with his daughter and was merely using her for sex. In fact, he confronted Deluca on one occassion with a shotgun and threatened to kill him before he shammed the gun into Deluca's mouth, shattering some of his teeth.

Why did Deluca propose marriage to the much younger Columbo? It's not hard to figure out. Deluca was faced with the prospect of paying child support and alimony for his five kids and soon to be ex-wife. That was a frightening scenario for someone who didn't have a lot of money. And so, marriage to Patricia and the murder of her parents became Deluca's solution to try and get his hands on the Columbo inheritance.

Fortunately, for Patricia, they didn't get away with it or she would've undoubtedly suffered the same fate that Drew Peterson's third and fourth wives (Kathleen Savio, Stacey Peterson) suffered. Deluca would've killed her and then taken the inheritance money. That's why he wanted to marry her.

Patricia herself wasn't an angel. Though intelligent, she was rebellious and she caused her parents a lot of grief. She likely saw Deluca as a ticket to her freedom from strict, domineering parents. And she willingly went along with Deluca's murderous plans. What led to her arrest? Besides the forensic evidence that tied her and Deluca to the crimes, she showed practically no remorse for her family's fate during interviews with the police following her arrest on May 15, 1976. And she's been behind bars ever since then.

What's the point of all this? I wrote to Patricia and sent her some of our website and weblog material. She responded with a kind and thoughtful letter, explaining that she had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while in prison. Here's some of what she wrote: "I am a born-again Christian and I am very honored to be one of four (women) on our prison praise and worship team that ministers to these women on the maximum security unit and our favorite; the new arrivals to the prison. It is any opportunity to make contact with the women when they are scared and broken."

Certainly, there are some folks who still believe to this day that Columbo's nothing but a con artist who'll say anything to fool people. One of those people is Lake County, Ill. Undersheriff Ray Rose who was Elk Grove's Deputy Chief of Police in 1976 when Columbo and Deluca committed the murders. Rose was one of the first investigators to arrive at the horrific crime scene and it's still etched in his mind.

Rose also serves on a 12-member Illinois Prisoner Review Board that is tasked every four years with determining whether Columbo should be granted parole. In Rose's opinion, that should never happen: "When you see people who've been murdered, what makes this so grisly is that it's an entire family. When you think about that … you can't forget. It's like we're speaking on behalf of the family because they're not here to talk for themselves."

I can understand where Rose is coming from. When you see the bodies of three human beings who were mutilated like animals, you never forget that. It haunts you forever. And it will haunt Rose until he takes his final breath. And as long as he's able to, he'll recommend that Columbo never be allowed to go free.

I believe that Columbo should be paroled. She's not the same person she was in 1976. She's changed. In 1976, she was a gullible and rebellious young lady who was charmed by a despicable person who used her--first for sex and then for murder. She's paid dearly for that. She made a terrible decision that ruined her life and destroyed her family. And I think she'll be the first to admit that.

And I think that there are people who are more deserving of her prison cell these days than her. And so, I think she needs to be allowed to live the remainder of her life outside of those prison walls in Lincoln, Illinois.

Concerning forgiveness, for everyone--even a murderer--who comes to Christ in repentance and truly confesses their sins in contriteness, God says this: "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (Hebrews 8:12)

Climate Change or Divine Judgment?

Once considered an American paradise, the state of California is looking increasingly like a wasteland these days as a major drought that's plagued the southwest for the past four years is drying up that state.

Thus, the old song; It Never Rains In Southern California can now be applied to Central and Northern California because it rarely rains anywhere in the Golden State these days.

How bad is it getting? According to telegraph.co.uk: It's bad. It's in California so there is inevitably some hyperbole, with Governor Jerry Brown calling it "epochal" and some scientists claiming it's the worst since the 16th century. But data back up these concerns. The US Drought Monitor has four stages of drought - moderate, severe, extreme and exceptional. 100 per cent of California is in some sort of drought and 58 per cent of it is in the worst category, exceptional.   

Many people revile California because of its radical political culture and its ostentatious, opulent materialism. And they couldn't care less that the Golden State's burning up from the chronic drought. However, they shouldn't revile California because that state supplies the United States with a significant amount of its produce and almonds. The severe drought's destroying the Golden State's crops and forcing food suppliers to go elsewhere and pay higher prices for produce.

California's Central Valley is the "bread basket of America," a vast agricultural area the size of Scotland. The amount of food it produces is extraordinary. In all, more than 50 per cent of US fruit, vegetables and nuts are grown in the state. That includes more than 90 per cent of America's strawberries, olives, celery, broccoli, nectarines, garlic, canned tomatoes, cauliflower and pistachio nuts. 

The area also produces 90 per cent of the world's almonds. Last year some parts of the Central Valley got only a fifth of their usual rainfall. Farmers say a slow motion disaster is unfolding. The cost to the economy this year alone is estimated at $2.2 billion and 500,000 acres have been left fallow. They warn of soaring costs in supermarkets across the country. Thousands of withered almond trees have been bulldozed.

Naturally, those who promote the Climate Change crisis are blaming California's predicament on global warming, as if droughts never occurred before the advent of the industrial age. But they did and they'll continue to occur until the end of the current age.

Could California's drought be divine judgment against the state for its rebellion against God. It could and it likely is. Droughts are a curse brought by God against sinful, rebellious people who mock His laws and violate his commandments. During the time of the ancient prophet Haggai (500 B.C.), the Lord pronounced a curse against Israel for her wanton disregard for His laws and statutes: "You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the Lord Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands." (Haggai 1:9-11)

Certainly, California isn't the only place where sin and rebellion against God exist. It exists everywhere. However, droughts are a stern warning to people from heaven that the wickedness in their part of the world is excessive. After Solomon had dedicated the Jewish Temple to the Lord (1,000 B.C.), the Lord appeared to him and gave him this message: "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)

That's the antidote for drought-stricken California. If Californians want an end to their terrible drought, then they need to study the Lord's message to Solomon and apply that message to themselves. Otherwise, the state will continue to pay the price, and that price will be felt in America's 49 other states as well.

Symptoms and Causes

The Confederate Flag

In their typical fashion, leftists are now demanding the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina State House building after Dylann Roof, a white supremacist, shot nine people to death last week in a black church located in Charleston.

Certainly, the Confederate flag is offensive to many people, and it's long been associated as a symbol of the old Jim Crow south. But I seriously doubt that the rebel flag had anything to do with Roof's racist beliefs and his murderous actions. Rather, Roof used that flag to flaunt his rebellion against blacks, the human race and God.

I'm not defending the rebel flag. If the people of South Carolina want it removed from their State House, then it should be gone. However, removing the flag isn't going to stop evil people such as Roof from committing heinous crimes against innocent people. 

The only way to prevent more Dylann Roofs from destroying human life is to raise children properly in biblical values so that they'll recognize that all human beings regardless of color, are created in the image of God and aren't the end product of millions of years of random evolutionary forces. Roof thought himself and his race superior to blacks, and his perverted mind convinced him that blacks had to be eliminated from the earth.

Roof's beliefs, albeit evil, aren't unique to white supremacists. Those beliefs are also found in Islam that teaches that Jews are the offspring of apes and pigs and therefore must be eliminated from the world. Adolf Hitler believed the Jews to be a corrupt race that had to be eliminated from the earth. And Elijah Muhammad, one of the founders of the Nation of Islam, taught that whites are the spawn of Satan and they have to be eliminated from the planet.

And remember a woman named Margaret Sanger? She founded the American Birth Control League in 1921 that later became known as Planned Parenthood. Sanger was a virulent racist who believed that blacks were an inferior race that had to be eliminated from the world. 

Here's what Sanger wrote in Woman, Morality and Birth Control that was published in 1922: We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities.  The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.

The Bible reveals that the root cause of all evil in the world is the sinful nature that's inherent in all human beings from the time of birth. The symptoms of evil manifest in violent crime, poverty, greed, financial corruption, laziness, sexual immorality and of course racism. 

Leftists reject the biblical worldview by claiming that human beings are born basically good and are subsequently corrupted by such things as poverty, inequality, racism and social injustice. If that's true then where did poverty, inequality, racism and social injustice come from? Space aliens? Rather those evils come from morally-depraved, sinful human beings. 

If all human beings are born "basically good" then such maladies as poverty, inequality, racism and social injustice shouldn't exist. But they do. That's the root cause of evil in the world rather than such things as the existence of the Confederate flag. 

Jesus Christ explained that to His disciples one day during His ministry in ancient Israel. When some of His disciples were soundly condemned by the Pharisees for violating a rabbinical custom by not washing their hands before they ate, Christ said this: "Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them." (Matthew 15:17-20)

Confederate flags don't create racists--evil does. And evil begins in the human heart and not at the top of a flagpole.

Russia, Greece and Prophecy

Nearly 30 years ago, President Ronald Reagan warned the world to never allow the Russians to expand their oil and gas pipelines throughout Europe. Why? Because the Russians could use oil and gas as a political weapon against the continent.

And while much of the world is currently focused on the increasing violence committed by ISIS in the Middle East, many people missed a significant event that occurred recently. What was that? The Russians devised a solution to help financially-troubled Greece pay down its massive debt that threatens to ruin that nation and disrupt the 19-nation eurozone.

From the AP (Associated Press): Russia and Greece signed a deal Friday (June 19) to build an extension of a prospective gas pipeline that would carry Russian gas to Europe through Turkey. Russia promised Greece hundreds of millions of dollars in transit payments yearly if it agreed to build the pipeline. Construction of the pipeline is expected to start next year and be completed in 2019.  http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_RUSSIA_GREECE

The agreement benefits both nations, and it will also give the Russians a huge strategic political advantage if they're able to expand their natural gas pipelines into European nations that are aligned with the United States. Once those nations become dependent upon Russian natural gas, they will be more inclined to do what Russia wants them to do--distance themselves from the United States and get out of NATO. 

And if they don't listen to Russia? They will either see their natural gas rates skyrocket, or the Russians will shut off the gas and plunge them into a deep freeze. Remember the lesson the Ukrainians learned in 2006 when they complained about the price the Russians were charging them for gas? The Russians turned off the spigots and plunged the Ukraine into a deep freeze.

Russia's new deal with Greece--dubbed the Black Sea Project--does an end around a European Union edict that killed the proposed $45 billion South Stream project last year that would've allowed the Bear to expand its pipelines deeper into Western Europe. The EU edict was one of several sanctions imposed against Russia by the U.S. and the EU for Russia's military incursion into the Ukraine. 

In typical fashion, Russian President Vladimir Putin denied that the Black Sea Project had any political strings attached to it. But only a fool would believe that. And Greek Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis sounded like he was reading from Putin's propaganda script when he said this: "The pipeline is not against anyone in Europe or the world. It is here to serve people, peace and stability. Energy can bring people together and not feed Cold War situations."

Putin's deal with Greece is a shrewd one that will have serious consequences for Europe and the United States if it succeeds. The U.S. and the EU should have seen this coming. But they didn't and they'll pay dearly if Russia's gas pipelines keep expanding ever further across the continent. Nations that become dependent upon other nations for their energy have no recourse when their suppliers begin making demands on them. And make no mistake; when the time is right, the Russians will begin making demands.

And when you consider that the western world is determined to reduce its dependency upon fossil fuels and natural gas to power its heavy industries, the Russians will be in a strong position to impose their will upon the world when the utopian dream of clean, green energy fails to deliver on its promises.

Russia's continuing rise to world prominence once again after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s is prophetic. Certainly, Russia has its own problems with a sluggish economy that's partly the result of the economic sanctions that were imposed against the Bear for its incursion into the Ukraine. However, despite the sanctions, the Bear continues its rise while the western world--and particularly the United States--is on the decline.

Nearly 2,600 years ago, the prophet Daniel received a vision from God (Daniel 11) concerning the end times and the rise of a powerful nation that would rise to global supremacy. Daniel described that nation as a northern kingdom.

Since the Bible places Israel at the center of its geographical map, what nation was Daniel referring to? He was referring to Russia because that nation is located directly north of Israel.

Is Russia's rise to prominence a coincidence? Hardly. The fulfillment of biblical prophecy is never a coincidence. Rather, it's another confirmation of the absolute truth of God's revealed word in the Bible concerning the end time events on earth preceding the return of Jesus Christ. 

Why Evil Prevails

By now, everyone's familiar with the recent tragedy that took place in Charleston, South Carolina where a 21-year-old white supremacist named Dylann Roof shot nine people to death at an historic black church during a prayer service.

When the police spotted Roof driving around in his black Hyundai after the shooting, they arrested him without an altercation. That's unusual because the people who commit heinous crimes such as Roof rarely give up without a fight. What often happens is either the shooter and or innocent victims end up losing their lives when the shooter either commits suicide or tries to shoot his way out of his predicament.

Thankfully, Roof gave up without an incident. But indeed, the damage was done. Not only did nine people tragically lose their lives in a church of all places, but opportunistic politicians and corrupt, leftist media hacks exploited the tragedy by blaming it on white racism, "white privilege", and of course, the availability of guns. 

Some media pundits chose the more conservative route by labeling Roof a psychopath, nutcase, insane, crazy, deranged etc. That's the route most pundits take because it's nonjudgmental. A person who's crazy or insane is amoral and is unable to differentiate between right and wrong, good and evil. However, a person who's completely sane who commits a heinous crime has chosen evil over good.

How do we know that Roof is evil rather than insane? Because he displayed remorse--albeit minimal--when he was questioned by the police. He allegedly told police that he was reluctant to go through with the shooting because the people in the church seemed nice. If Roof really said that, then he showed that he had a functioning conscience--albeit a weak one--by recognizing that what he did was evil. A psychopath would've had no such convictions.

Roof's conscience wasn't strong enough to convince him to cancel his plan. He was so consumed by evil that he violated his conscience and murdered nine people. Why was Roof consumed with such evil? Because he had immersed himself in it via the hate websites that he visited on the internet.

But he was also enabled. By whom? By his family, whether they were his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. And certainly, it's likely he had friends and acquaintances who embraced the same evil he did. They influenced Roof to become the evil monster he became. When evil is camouflaged by selfish reason, then anarchy prevails.

Am I making excuses for Roof? Surely I'm not. But if he'd been brought up in a strong moral environment instead of in the morally-relative, secular environment he grew up in, he would've never have embraced the evil that he did. The Bible says this: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." (Proverbs 22:6) And this: "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them." (proverbs 13:24)

The sad moral of this story is the increasing secularization of western civilization where the clear distinction between good and evil is blurred or obliterated and everyone does what's right in their own eyes. And the Christian church has played a significant role in the increasing moral bankruptcy of the western world by failing to contend for the faith (Jude 1:3) it was entrusted with by Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago. The Christian church has lost its influence in the western world and the results are obvious.

And the increase in evil in the time we're living in is prophetic. The apostle Paul wrote this nearly 2,000 years ago: "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

Sadly, there will be more incidents such as the shooting in Charleston, South Carolina. When a society ignores the causes of the symptoms that plague it, then evil prevails. A society can pass draconian laws that restrict behavior and even disarm its citizenry. But it can't change human hearts. Only Jesus Christ can. 

World Government and the Catholic Church

Pope Francis and Climate Change

For those who believe what the Bible predicts concerning the prophetic events on earth directly preceding the return of Jesus Christ, Pope Francis's recent encyclical on Climate Change fits in perfectly with end time prophecy.

However, for those who dismiss the Bible as a book of myths, the Pope's speech wasn't significant. It was just another appeal to the world to join together to clean up the environment before it's too late. Too late for what? Too late to reverse the alleged damage done to the earth's ecosphere by human beings.

What's wrong with the Pope's message concerning Climate Change? What's wrong with it? Climate Change simply isn't happening. That's what's wrong with it.

And since the Vatican is all about religion and not about science, the Pope has obviously been recruited to spread the bovine manure about Climate Change. Why? Because the Roman Catholic Church has about 1.2 billion members. That represents one-seventh of the earth's population. And no matter how much criticism the Catholic Church receives concerning her position on moral issues such as abortion, birth control and same-sex marriage, the Pope usually manages to stay above the criticism.

And he's popular with many non-Catholics, as well. That's why he makes an excellent spokesman for the Climate Change canard. But who recruited him? The global elites who belong to organizations and groups such as the United Nations, Bilderbergers, Club of Rome, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, Ford Foundation, the G7 and the G20. They're seeking a one-world government and they need a major crisis to accomplish that, even if that crisis has to be manufactured. 

Doesn't that sound like a conspiracy theory? Only to those who haven't been paying attention. Here's what globalist and billionaire financier David Rockefeller said about 50 years ago: We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the new world order. endoftimesprophecyreport.com 

Rockefeller, who's a member of the ultra-secretive Bilderbergers, has long advocated for an end to the sovereignty of individual nations and the establishment of a one-world government. And he realizes that in order to accomplish that, the world needs some impending catastrophe--real or imagined--that will encourage the world's 193 nations to exchange their sovereignty for the security of a world government.

Francis isn't the first pope to serve globalists. Shortly before his death in 2005, Pope John Paul II said this: One world government is inevitable...we will live under the first one world government that has ever existed in the society of nations...a government with absolute authority to decide the basic issues of survival. 

In his encyclical, titled: Laudato Si, Francis said this: If the current trend continues in this century, we could witness climate change unlike anything seen before and the unprecedented destruction of ecosystems, with serious consequences for all of us. independent.co.uk

And then the Pope pulled back the curtains just a bit to reveal why he's become a spokesman for this phony crisis: The warming caused by enormous consumption of some rich countries has repercussions in the poorest places on earth, especially in Africa, where the increase in temperature, combined with drought, has had disastrous effects on the performance of crops. 

The real message of the Pope's climate encyclical is Marxism. How does the material consumption of wealthy countries contribute to droughts? It doesn't. Droughts have been occurring since the beginning of time, and they're caused by any number of reasons such as jet stream patterns, ocean temperatures, deforestation, forest fires, volcanoes etc. But they aren't caused by Global Warming-Climate Change because that's not happening. Rather, the Pope is using hysteria to convince the world to join together and form a new world order.

The Catholic Church's increasing incursion into global affairs in recent decades isn't an anomaly. It's the fulfillment of biblical prophecy concerning the end times. In about 90 A.D., the apostle John received a vision from God that he recorded into the Bible's final book known as the Revelation. In his vision John saw an ugly, scarlet beast "coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name." (Revelation 13:1)

John also saw "a woman sitting on (the) scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns." (Revelation 17:3) John described her: "The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries." (Revelation 17:4)

What is this beast that John saw? It represents the coming world government that will consist of 10 nation groups (horns) ruled by seven powerful kings (heads). Who is the woman who sits atop the beast? She represents a global religion that will partner with this world government.

Furthermore, John was told that the woman represents a city that's surrounded by seven hills. (Revelation 17:9) What city could that be? Only two cities are surrounded by seven hills; Rio de Janeiro that's located in Brazil and Rome that's located in Italy. The Vatican is located in Rome and is the headquarters of the Catholic Church. And furthermore, the color of the woman's clothing--purple and scarlet--are the colors worn by the Catholic priesthood.

When John recorded the Revelation, the Catholic Church didn't exist and wouldn't come into existence until the 4th century. Is the Catholic Church's increasing role in global affairs such as Climate Change a coincidence? Hardly. It's the fulfillment of prophecy.

And so, when the Pope speaks, you should pay attention. But not to him. Rather, pay attention to what the Bible says concerning the last days on earth preceding Christ's return. For indeed, we're living in prophetic times.  

The Harder They Fall

Jimmy Swaggart

It's been 27 years since the Rev. Jimmy Swaggart brought scorn and ridicule upon himself when he was caught in the company of a prostitute. Swaggart was a fiery, charismatic preacher who was one of top-tier ministers in the Assemblies of God Church (AOG) for several decades.

That was until he got caught in the company of a prostitute in 1988. He was subsequently suspended by the AOG, but not before he offered his famous tearful apology in front of his stunned congregation and a TV audience. At the time, Swaggart's confession seemed genuine. 

He looked and sounded like a broken man who had sinned against God and heaven. In fact, this is what he said during his apology: "I have sinned against You, my Lord, and I would ask that Your Precious Blood would wash and cleanse every stain until it is in the seas of God's forgetfulness, not to be remembered against me anymore."

Swaggart's fall was truly stunning. He became a laughingstock to those who believe all church ministers are hypocrites. To add insult to injury, Swaggart was the man who had accused fellow AOG minister Marvin Gorman of sexual immorality in 1986. After Gorman admitted his sexual sins, he was defrocked and his career as an AOG minister was over. 

Now, the table was turned on Swaggart, and there were rumors that Gorman had his son and son-in-law get the goods on Swaggart by trailing him to his fateful rendezvous with a hooker at a motel in New Orleans.

Whether Gorman was the man who pulled the proverbial curtains on Swaggart is debatable. What isn't debatable is the fact that three years later, Swaggart got caught in the company of another prostitute, this time in Indio, California. Swaggart was caught by the police when he drove his car over to the wrong side of a street to proposition a hooker named Rosemary Garcia. When Garcia was asked to describe her conversation with the reverend, she replied: "He asked me for sex. I mean, that's why he stopped me. That's what I do. I'm a prostitute."

After the second incident, Swaggart was anything but contrite. There were no televised tearful apologies and no pleas to God for forgiveness. He told anyone who asked about the Indio incident that it was none of their business. And then he reportedly stepped down from his church to seek help for his overactive libido.

I'm told that Swaggart's a much different man today than the man he was nearly 30 years ago. Though he's now 80, he retains that charismatic fire-in-the-belly style of preaching that made him one of the most recognizable faces in the Christian church until his fall. I hope that he's changed because his faith and biblical knowledge are extraordinary.

However, the damage that he inflicted upon the church and the name of Jesus Christ doesn't easily go away. True Christians are required to forgive those who've sinned against them and the church. And Swaggart's been forgiven. I also believe that Swaggart's sincere these days when he admits that what he did was wrong. 

But there are those who will inevitably point to Swaggart or Jim Bakker or David Loveless or other ministers who embarrassed themselves and their churches by getting caught in sexual sin. That's the real damage. While sexual sin prevails throughout the world, it's toxic when it surfaces in the church. And it's become one of the main reasons why so many people view the church so skeptically these days.

Nearly 2,000 years ago, the apostle Paul warned the early Christians to avoid sexual sin like it was a deadly plague. Here's what he wrote: "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

Surely, Jimmy Swaggart knows that verse today. Surely, he knew that verse 30 years ago. He knew it well enough to expose Marvin Gorman's sins. Unfortunately, he didn't apply that to his own life. Though he does now, is the church better off for that? I certainly hope so. 

To Draw or Not to Draw?

It's hardly a secret that Islam is anything but a religion of peace. The followers of that religion have shed millions of gallons of innocent blood across the world since Islam's inception in the 7th century.

Oh sure. There are those who'll inevitably point to the Crusades and the Inquisitions to draw a moral parallel between Christianity and Islam. However, that's a fallacious argument because the Crusades and Inquisitions were committed by the Roman Catholic Church in opposition to what Jesus Christ taught. The multiplied murders, beheadings, suicide bombings and terrorist attacks committed by Muslims have been done in obedience to what Muhammad taught.

For example, while Christianity warns against creating images of Christ because they can lead to idolatry, it doesn't order its adherents to kill those who defy that edict. Rather, Islam mandates the death penalty for anyone who creates any type of image of Muhammad. After the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo published cartoons of Islam's prophet, two Muslims, Saïd and Chérif Kouachi entered the Hebdo offices in Paris on January 7, 2015 and shot 11 staff members to death while wounding 11 others.

Recently, writer, political activist and commentator Pamela Geller was threatened by Muslims after she organized a contest to draw pictures of Muhammad at an event that took place last month (May) at a civic center in Garland, Texas.

Two Muslims, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi traveled to Garland from Phoenix, Arizona with the intention of killing Geller and everyone who attended the event before they were killed outside the center by police sharpshooters. And according to reports, Geller's home address was recently tweeted by an Islamist named Abu Hussain al-Britani who obtained the address in order to make it easier for jihadists to find and kill Geller.

In addition to being condemned by Islamists, Geller has also been blasted by some in the west for her decision to draw pictures of Islam's prophet. Billionaire business tycoon Donald Trump offered perhaps the most scathing criticism of Geller: "What are they doing drawing Muhammad? Isn’t there something else they can draw? They can’t do something else? They have to be in the middle of Texas and on Muhammad? I don’t know, maybe she likes risk. What the hell is she doing?"

Josh Marshall, who's the publisher and the editor of the uber-left Talkingpointsmemo.com, labeled American Freedom Defense Initiative, an organization run by Geller and Robert Spencer, "a hate group", as did the utterly contemptible Southern Poverty Law Center. And Rukmini Callimachi, a New York Times foreign correspondent chimed in with this: "Free speech aside, why would anyone do something as provocative as hosting a Muhammad drawing contest?"

Should Geller be lauded or condemned for what she did? As an American, she has every right to publish the cartoons because the First Amendment guarantees her the right of freedom of speech.

However, what should Christians do? Should they publish and promote such drawings? They shouldn't, and that has nothing to do with cowardice or the fear of violence from Muslims. Christians are called to be peacemakers rather than troublemakers. They're commanded by scripture to respect other people whether those folks are friends or enemies.

Here's what the apostle Paul wrote in his first of two letters to the early church in Thessalonica: "Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." (1 Thessalonians 4:9-12)

Certainly, Pamela Geller isn't a Christian, although there are many professing Christians who place the U.S. Constitution ahead of the Bible when it comes to dealing with authority and other people. I can't criticize Geller because she has the right to publish provocative material under the First Amendment. Unfortunately, when you provoke other people, you invite trouble.

And so, it's never cowardice to avoid trouble by refusing to be provocative. That's the Christian way. The U.S. Constitution may guarantee you the right to provoke others, but the Constitution was written by men rather than by God. According to the Bible, that was inspired by God, provocation is always a wrong and never a right.

The Hidden Agenda

What's behind the Gay Agenda?

Is the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) Movement truly about ending discrimination and gaining equal rights for those who are attracted to the same sex? Or, is it about something else?

Having studied international groups and globalists for many years, I can tell you that the LGBT Movement is essentially a front for global population control and reduction, and the destruction of the Christian church in areas of the world where the church openly opposes the gay lifestyle.

What?!! That's utter nonsense, isn't it? No, it's not. While the majority of those who embrace the gay lifestyle are merely concerned about practicing their lifestyles free of discrimination, there are those outside the LGBT Movement who consider the gay lifestyle essential toward fulfilling their goals.

First of all, what am I referring to? Who are these people, and what are their goals? They are powerful people who belong to a variety of international organizations such as the United Nations, The Bilderbergers, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Ford Foundation, the Club of Rome, the Round Table and the Trilateral Commission. These are just some of the several organizations that seek to shape global policy concerning the world economy, environment, commerce, disease, education, population, conflicts between nations and poverty. 

Certainly, some folks are convinced that I'm promoting a conspiracy theory. But I'm not. For many years, globalists have been discussing ways to end the individual sovereignty of 193 world nations and move them into a global government. 

And along with the creation of a global government, a major item on the agenda of these people is the radical reduction in the earth's population. They're convinced that too many people inhabit the earth and the population needs to be dramatically reduced. Therefore, according to these people, unless the earth's population is drastically cut--and soon--the planet faces catastrophic destruction.

For example, the Environment Institute and School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia published a report written by Corey J. A. Bradshaw and Barry W. Brook that warns the earth's ecosystems are seriously endangered unless the population is significantly reduced.

What's Bradshaw's and Brook's solution? A massive mortality event that would eliminate millions, if not billions of people from the planet. Perhaps a holocaust instituted by a global government? Don't laugh. Biblical prophecy reveals that's coming. Nearly 2,600 years ago, the ancient Hebrew prophet Daniel wrote this concerning the leader of the coming global government who will be the dreaded Antichrist: "He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people." (Daniel 8:24)

But how does the LGBT Movement fit into population control? Very easily. Gays and lesbians can't procreate unless they choose surrogates. Therefore, the more people that can be enticed into the gay lifestyle means fewer children being born into the world.

And in order for more people to be enticed into the gay lifestyle, homosexuality has to be glorified as natural, good, beneficial and cool. Therefore, all opposition to that lifestyle must be eliminated. That means that those who adhere to a strict biblical Judeo-Christian worldview that condemns the gay lifestyle must be silenced. Even if that means trampling on their rights.

For those who are skeptical that the gay lifestyle is being used as a weapon of population control, consider this piece written by G. Roger Denson for the Huffington Post in 2010: With the natural world on the brink of demise largely because of overpopulation, unrestrained homosexuality, as one of a variety of ethical and democratic measures available to us today, offers perhaps the most natural option to be enjoined. What other options are as attractive? We don't want to die young. We don't want to face illness or catastrophe. Many individuals and societies refuse abortion and birth control. Few would condone or submit willingly to the kind of international law imposing a one-child policy like that exercised by China on all nations. And we hardly need to be reminded of the history of racist, eugenicist, and militarist agendas for imposing growth control on unwilling and unknowing populations. So why shouldn't homosexuality be seen as providing a viable option to overpopulation--to the point that the world's nations come to encourage its practice and esteem its benefits? It is, after all, the most harmonious way to control the population--considering all that's required is that we love and support our gay sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, parents, friends, lovers, and selves.

The gay agenda will have only a minimal impact on global population numbers because it's primarily effective in the western world. Homosexuality is condemned in many parts of the eastern world and particularly in Islamic nations that mandate capital punishment for those who are caught practicing that lifestyle.

Nevertheless, the homosexual lifestyle has become another solution along with abortion, birth control and euthanasia for globalists and radical environmentalists who seek a radical reduction in the earth's population numbers.

In the 8th century B.C., the Lord spoke these words to the prophet Isaiah concerning those who glorify evil by promoting it as beneficial for human beings: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight." (Isaiah 5:20-21)

Indeed. Woe to those who would lure people into an abomination (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11) by sanitizing it in order to control the earth's population. Woe to them indeed.

The Modern Moneychangers

The apostle Paul warned that in the last days preceding the return of Jesus Christ, "some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." (1 Timothy 4:1)

While Paul's prophecy applies to the many false teachings that have invaded the church over the past 100 years, it definitely applies to the false prosperity gospel. What's the prosperity gospel? It teaches that Christ came into the world to show us how to acquire the good life by faith.

And so, according to the prosperity preachers, you can use the power of faith to acquire vast wealth and riches. Is that teaching biblical? No it isn't. Then why do these people promote the prosperity gospel? Because it's a con game that keeps on giving to those who keep on preaching that counterfeit gospel.

The givers are the suckers who send their money to the takers who vacuum their wallets by offering them the lofty promises of prosperity. Stop and consider this: If you can acquire vast wealth by naming and claiming your treasure, then why bother sending money to the prosperity preachers? Why? Because the prosperity gospel doesn't work, certainly not for those who practice it. But it works just fine for those who preach it.

For example, one of the most popular prosperity preachers is Benny Hinn who, according to public records, owns a private jet, lives in a $10 million house near the Pacific Ocean, stays in hotel rooms that cost thousands each night, and owns luxury vehicles. nakedlaw.avvo.com

Another is Joyce Meyer, who since 1999 has spent at least $4 million on five homes for (herself) and her children. Meyer’s house is a 10,000 square foot home with an 8-car garage, a large fountain, a gazebo, a private putting green, a pool, and pool house with a new $10,000 bathroom. Her salary was reported at $900,000 back in 2003, and she also enjoys use of a private jet and luxury cars. 

And still another prosperity preacher who has enjoyed the high life on the backs and bucks of his gullible followers is Eddie Long who has earned millions in salary from his ministry, owns a million dollar home on a 20-acre lot, has use of a $350,000 Bentley, and pulls in a host of other benefits too. 

There are several others such as Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, Randy and Paula White, and Creflo Dollar who've become obscenely wealthy by preaching the prosperity gospel. Is it wrong for them to enjoy such great wealth? No. However it's wrong for them to pervert Christ's teachings concerning money to make it seem as though Christ promoted faith as a method to become wealthy.

Yes, Christ did say this: "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the (Heavenly) Father may be glorified in the Son." (John 14:13) But that was in the context of doing the will of God on earth rather than in the context of acquiring wealth. What's the will of God? The salvation of human beings through their faith in Christ's death on the cross for their sins and His resurrection from the dead.

What did Christ teach concerning money? He said this: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

Here's what Paul wrote concerning money: "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." (1 Timothy 6:6-10)

Obviously, the prosperity gurus don't preach 1 Timothy 6. If they did, they'd expose themselves as the hypocrites they truly are. And their gullible followers would realize what contemptible phonies they truly are.
