The future of America? |
The United States of America, once considered the most Christian nation on earth, has now become a post-Christian republic that celebrates depravity and persecutes those who dare criticize her descent into the moral abyss.
Biblical morals provide the foundation for every strong nation. When those morals become ignored or corrupted, the foundation weakens and it's just a matter of time before a nation collapses under the weight of its own sin.
That's happened numerous times throughout history. That happened to the ancient Greek and Roman Empires.
And before those empires existed, it happened to ancient Israel. When Israel feared God and obeyed His laws, the Jewish nation prospered and was protected from her enemies.
And before those empires existed, it happened to ancient Israel. When Israel feared God and obeyed His laws, the Jewish nation prospered and was protected from her enemies.
But when Israel ignored God and disobeyed His laws, the Jewish nation eventually came under His judgment. But that wasn't until after the Lord had sent His prophets to warn that nation to either repent or face the consequences. When Israel spurned and persecuted His prophets, the judgment commenced.
Here are the words that the Lord spoke to the prophet Isaiah in the 8th century B.C. concerning Israel's rebellion: Ah, sinful nation, a people loaded with guilt, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the Lord; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. Why should you be beaten anymore? Why do you persist in rebellion? Your whole head is injured, your whole heart afflicted. From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness-- only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with oil. Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers. The Daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a city under siege. Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:4-9)
If history does indeed repeat itself, then what happened in ancient Israel many centuries ago is now happening in America today.
Unlike ancient Israel, the United States wasn't founded upon a covenant with God. And yet America was founded by God-fearing men who recognized that the new republic couldn't survive for very long without God's blessings. And that's why they mandated that young children growing up in America be taught the bible as part of their education.
If America's founding fathers came back today, they'd be shocked to see what their republic has become. They'd see a nation in steep decline with wicked leaders, immoral people and a Christian church that attempts to advance the Gospel through ballot box evangelism.
And they'd see a nation that mocks and persecutes God's modern prophets, just as ancient Israel did a long time ago.
Is America doomed? If history is any indication--and it is--then unless America repents and turns back to God, her days are definitely numbered.
