While Barack fiddles... |
It's time for our monthly question and answer post. This month, we'll deal with America and her prophetic future.
Question: What do you think about America's future? Is she going to remain the greatest superpower on the earth?
Answer: From a prophetic standpoint, I don't think so. The only reference that I can find in the Bible that seems to pertain prophetically to the United States can be found in an Old Testament prophecy (Daniel 8) recorded by Daniel about 2,600 years ago. The prophet recorded an allegorical vision he received from God concerning a powerful two-horned ram and a scruffy, one-horned goat. The two-horned ram was a ferocious animal that destroyed everything in its path until the goat, that traveled a great distance across the earth, confronted and destroyed the ram. Then, the goat's horn was broken off and replaced by four new horns. What's the meaning of the vision? We learn that the two-horned ram represented the kingdoms of Media and Persia while the shaggy goat represented the King of Greece. Well, Media and Persia haven't existed for a long time, but today in those areas we find Iraq and Iran. But does this goat actually represent modern Greece? Hardly. Greece was often used as a synonym for the gentiles in the ancient times. Therefore, I believe that the goat actually represents the United States that began to take out Iraq in 1991 and then finished the job in 2003, and will take out Iran at some point in the future. And then, the U.S. will fall as a superpower.
Question: Assuming your interpretation of Daniel 8 is correct, will Barack Obama be the president who authorizes a military invasion of Iran?
Answer: I can't imagine Barack Obama authorizing a military invasion of any nation on earth. He's the most antiwar president in American history. He's emasculating America's military and dismantling the nation's nuclear arsenal. And he believes that this will make the world a safer place. Rather, it's going to make the world a far more dangerous place, and we're seeing that happen all over the globe. Who's going to authorize the attack against Iran? We'll have to wait and see.
Question: You've mentioned that America is going to be judged by God because of her wickedness. In what way? Can you elaborate on that?
Answer: It amazes me that many people who call themselves Christians don't believe that God judges modern nations the way He judged the ancient nations. They don't believe that America is going to be judged by God. But why? Do you think that God ignores a nation that has murdered over 50 million unborn babies since abortion was legalized in 1973? Do you think that He ignores a nation that now openly celebrates lewdness, debauchery, paganism, fornication and sexual perversion? Or, that He ignores a nation that has grown increasingly hostile toward Israel? In many ways, America has already come under judgment. Her leaders are wicked and mendacious; her economy stinks and is getting worse, and she's becoming a laughingstock across the world. I truly believe that unless America turns from her wickedness--and soon--she's done.
Question: Why is the United States becoming so hostile to Christianity?
Answer: Actually, those who have become hostile to Christianity in America probably make up a small but very powerful minority. Many of the Christian-haters in America can be found in the academic world, the secular media, entertainment industry and in the Democratic Party. Unfortunately, these people have enormous influence and they use their influence to sway the opinions of those who listen to them. For example, Barack Obama hates Christians, even though he claims to be one. His animus towards Christians is very obvious and it goes back to his childhood. I truly believe that he equates bible-believing Christians with hillbillies, morons, rednecks, the Ku Klux Klan and Jim Crow. And since he's been in the Oval Office, the establishment American media, that have become some of his most loyal stooges, have dutifully carried out his hostility against conservative Christians. I can't ever remember a time in America when Christians were so ridiculed and mocked as they are today. And a lot of that starts with Obama.
Question: Can Christianity ever regain its influence once again in America?
Answer: Only if the Christian Church in the United States stops trying to do God's work at the ballot box and starts preaching the gospel once again in the streets. That's a tough job, and people are going to be persecuted, hurt and even killed. But that's the only remedy to regain the Christian influence and reverse the tide of detestable secularism that has spread across the nation like a malignancy over the past 50 years. Too many Christians believe that the answer is the ballot box. However, a nation's leaders are a direct reflection of the culture they come from. America has been plagued with terrible leaders in recent years because the nation wants those kind of leaders. And so, slating conservative candidates with a Christian worldview doesn't do any good when a growing majority of the voting public no longer shares that worldview. How do you change that worldview? By getting out into the streets and making the gospel relevant once again to a world that has grown skeptical of God and apathetic towards His laws.
Question: What will America look like in 50 years?
Answer: Unless Jesus Christ returns before then, I believe that America will be a member of one of 10 nation groups that comprise a world government that was prophesied by Daniel (Daniel 7:7) and by the apostle John. (Revelation 13:1) And certainly, America will look very different from the America that we know and still love today.
