These are the Last Days

How bad will the world become in the end times directly preceding the return of Jesus Christ? According to the apostle Paul, it will become this bad:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

But why? What's the cause of such moral decadence? The world's rejection of God and His transcendent moral laws. Again, Paul provides a brilliant explanation:

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. (Romans 1:21-25)

According to Paul, the world's rejection of God inevitably leads its rebels down a dark path to sexual immorality and perversion:

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. (Romans 1:26-27)

And Paul described what becomes of godless rebels:

Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

Skeptics will argue that such depravity has existed in every generation since the beginning of time. And they're correct. But there have been times when the world has become exceedingly wicked. And God has raised his hand against that wickedness. He judged the ancient world of Noah with a global flood that destroyed all life except Noah, his family and two members of every animal and bird group. (Genesis 6)

The Lord destroyed the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by fire after the residents of those towns refused to repent of their sexual immorality. And he's going to destroy the world yet again in the future--this time by fire--directly preceding the return of Jesus Christ. Paul wrote:

Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-3)

Christ likened the days directly preceding His return to the ancient days of Noah. (Matthew 24:36-41) The world was monstrously wicked in those ancient days. And it's approaching that level of evil again in these last days.

To illustrate that point, the online version of the Independent, a UK tabloid, recently published an article detailing the rising popularity of sex parties (orgies) among godless hipsters in the UK. Here's a sample of that article:

Guests wander the luxury Mayfair apartment in formal attire, chit-chatting, lounging on sofas and sipping champagne. At midnight a bell is rung and everyone gets naked. Around half an hour later, after the initial awkwardness has worn off, the flat is a sea of writhing bodies...If you're going to have sex with a total stranger, you're probably going to want them to be attractive, so Heaven Circle (sex club) vets its guests, even operating a tier system with extra special parties for the sexual elite. A "Sex Olympics" is currently being planned, where the best performers from parties around the world will come together for a sort of fantasy team orgy. The mix at the parties tends to be mostly swinging couples, with a few single men and women thrown in too.  

Sexual immorality is a barometer of evil. When it increases exponentially in the world, then judgment is near. No generation that's embraced sexual sin has managed to escape God's judgment. And this one won't either. 

The Prophetic Nasty Weather

About a year ago (1/18/2015),  I wrote this:

The Lord uses bad weather as a warning sign that He's not pleased with the behavior of His creation. The bad weather that struck America's upper east coast in 2012-2013 slammed states that not only offer gay marriage, but also have some of the highest abortion rates in the nation. Though there's been a break in the bad weather along the east coast, it's going to return. And with a vengeance. And it's going to strike more than just the upper east coast--it's going to strike all over the planet. 

 Certainly, violent storms have been a part of human existence since the beginning of time. But they do seem to be happening more frequently and causing more destruction than ever before. The recent storm (Jonas) that paralyzed much of America's east coast with heavy snow and flooding rains was described by some as a storm of historic proportions.

As Jonas approached the east coast, this is what some forecasters were saying:

It’s blizzard time on the East Coast, and this week’s storm could wind up being one for the ages. But lost in all the discussion of snow looms a coastal flood threat that could rival some of the strongest storms ever to hit the Northeast.Weather models continue to go all-in on what may wind up being Washington, D.C.’s snowiest snowstorm in history, besting a 28-inch snowfall back in 1922. At the moment, the Washington area is in the bull’s-eye, with potential for anywhere from 20 to 36 inches, according to the latest models. The storm is currently forecast to be a Top 10 snowstorm for Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City, too. On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a blizzard watch for the Washington area, warning of life threatening conditions.

Of course, some folks will blame severe storms such as Jonas on "Climate Change", as if bad weather never occurred before the advent of the industrial age. But it's been occurring since the beginning of time, and it's going to get worse. Why? Because of the proliferation of sin throughout the world.

Sins such as abortion that has murdered millions of innocent babies over the last 50 years. Sins such as murder, rape, violence, pedophilia, sexual perversion and murder committed in deference to the gods of false religions. Yes, that means Islam.

There's a direct correlation between the increase of sin in the world and violent weather. Here's more from that article I wrote last year:

Is the weather getting worse? Or is the spate of recent bad weather something that's just an unusual occurrence? According to biblical prophecy, the bad weather is a specific warning sign to the world that we're living in the end times and that things are indeed going to get worse. When Jesus Christ revealed some of the specific prophetic signs that would alert the world that His return was near, he stated that there would be "fearful events and great signs from heaven." (Luke 21:11) 

Indeed, the weather is getting worse and is going to continue to worsen as we get near to the return of Jesus Christ. The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) said this: The latest science suggests that more hurricanes are yet to come. Tropical storms are likely to bring higher wind speeds; more precipitation and bigger storm surge in coming decades. Over the course of this century, maximum wind-speeds could increase 2-11 percent and rainfall could increase 3-31 percent.

The monster storm that slammed the east coast will pass; the snow will melt and Jonas will become a memory. But more violent weather is on the way. And if you think that Jonas was bad, then you haven't seen anything. The world is going to experience the type of violent weather that it's never seen before. The loss of life and the property damage will be immense.

What's the antidote? The antidote is simple; repentance from evil and the fear of God and respect for His laws and commandments. That's the antidote. Nothing else will do. In the ancient times when Israel rebelled against the Lord, He brought judgment upon that nation.

And He did so reluctantly. To the prophet Isaiah (8th century B.C.) He said this: "Why should you be beaten anymore? Why do you persist in rebellion? Your whole head is injured, your whole heart afflicted. From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness—only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with olive oil. Your country is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your fields are being stripped by foreigners right before you, laid waste as when overthrown by strangers." (Isaiah 1:5-7)

And so, the next time you look out the window and see nasty weather coming, consider it's message. The Lord's trying to convey His message to the world to turn from sin and repent. But is anyone listening?

America's Doom

From a logistical standpoint, the imminent nuclear deal between the United States and Iran is a catastrophe. And from a spiritual standpoint, this deal will become the curse that ultimately brings America down for good.

Logistically, the deal opens the cash register for Iran to acquire over $100 billion that will be used to fund international terrorism. Though the deal technically calls for inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities, the Iranians will control the inspections and decide what sites get inspected and when. The deal is so awful it would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

Why was this deal made? While the uber-mendacious Obama administration claims that it was made to prevent the Persian nation from acquiring nuclear weapons, only a fool believes that. Unfortunately, America has a significant population of fools who vote. That was evidenced in 2008 and again in 2012 when American voters chose a corrupt, dishonest, unqualified and incompetent man in Barack Obama to be their president.

In Israel, the Jews are preparing for the worst once the deal becomes official. Arlene Kushner, an American-Israeli blogger, wrote this concerning the Senate Democrats who sold out their constituencies to bow down to Obama: There was a time when there was a tradition of Scoop Jackson Democrats, of JFK Democrats, of Joe Lieberman Democrats, of Democrats who were willing to defend national security.  Sadly, that is becoming rarer and rarer in today's Congress. So to every Democratic senator, they are facing a choice: do you value the safety and security of the United States of America; do you value standing with our friend and ally, the nation of Israel; do you value the lives of millions of Americans; or do you value more party loyalty to the Obama White House? (From Israel: You Cannot Wash Your Hands of That Blood)

Certainly, that's a rhetorical question. Then Kushner really got down to business: To every Democratic senator who's said he or she will support this deal, I ask you to consider: how will you look in the eyes of the mothers and fathers of our soldiers, the hundreds of soldiers, American soldiers, who were murdered in Iraq with Iranian IEDs that came from General Soleimani. This deal lifts sanctions on General Soleimani. Tell me, if you're a Democratic senator, how you look a mom in the eye and say, "I voted to lift sanctions on the man who murdered your son when he was defending this nation."

Did the Obama administration truly negotiate this deal in order to prevent the Islamic theocracy from building nuclear weapons? Of course not. Then why did they do this deal? For one reason and one reason only: To enhance Obama's phony legacy as a great statesman of peace and a uniter of the nations. That will work with the cretins who are too lazy or stupid--or both--to find out the truth, but it won't work with those who know better.

To illustrate just how bad this deal is, Secretary of State John Kerry has promised that America will offer Israel weapons so the Jewish state can beef up its security. Against what? If the deal is supposed to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, then why is the Obama administration offering Israel weapons?

And why is the Obama administration allowing a rogue nation to acquire the funds and obtain the nuclear technology that it has admitted it seeks in order to destroy the United States? That's like handing your enemy a loaded gun and then buying one for yourself in case he decides to shoot you.

From an editorial in the Iranian newspaper, the Kayhan: Let us have faith that America is incapable of any misstep [against Iran], and that it cannot even attack Iranian facilities without the White House being destroyed in under 10 minutes.  Let us have faith that the old ‘village leader’ [i.e. the US] has fallen onto his deathbed, and that even in his youth, he never made the mistake [of daring to attack Iran], and that he, like Israel, remains mired in quicksand. 

This deal brings us closer to the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy recorded by Daniel 2,600 years ago. (Daniel 8) The prophet revealed that a Middle-Eastern power he identified as Media-Persia would terrorize the world in the end times until it was destroyed by a powerful western nation. Who is Media-Persia? That's modern Iran.

Though Daniel identified the western nation as Greece, that name is a metaphor for a western power that's the United States. And Daniel revealed that once Persia (Iran) is destroyed, "Greece" (the United States) will "be cut off." What does that mean? The United States is no longer going to be a superpower.

We're truly living in prophetic times. Many of the signs that Jesus Christ revealed concerning the days preceding His return are now taking place. (Matthew 24) We're seeing an increase in earthquakes and famines; wars and rumors of wars, escalating violence and evil, and the increasing persecution of Christians all over the world.

Christ said this: "Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it (Christ's return) is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." (Matthew 24:32-35)

Sowing and Reaping

Unless you're an evil person, you experience sadness whenever you learn that someone is seriously ill with cancer. And that's how I felt when I learned that former President Jimmy Carter was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Though Carter is scheduled to undergo radiation therapy to treat the malignant tumor in his brain, he's resigned to the fact that at age 90, he's probably not going to be around much longer. Here's what he said: "I've had a wonderful life. I've had thousands of friends, I've had an exciting, adventurous and gratifying existence. So I was surprisingly at ease, much more so than my wife was."

I believe in being honest and blunt, so I'm not going to sugarcoat my words concerning Carter. Even though I'm saddened that he's ill, Carter was a terrible president who caused significant damage to the United States and the world during his only term in the White House from 1977-1981. And he's caused significant harm to the nation of Israel since he left the Oval Office.

Though he claims to be a Southern Baptist, Carter's an anti-Semite who's chronically sided with Israel's enemies that seek to destroy the Jewish nation. Under his leadership as America's 39th president, the U.S. suffered domestically and internationally. The U.S. economy choked under high taxes and inflation that led the the term "stagflation."

Thanks to Carter's atrocious foreign policy, the Iranian Revolution occurred in 1979 because Carter refused to come to the aid of the Shah of Iran who was under siege from the fanatical supporters of the Ayatollah Khomeini. Though the Shah pleaded with Carter to help him put down Khomeini's rebellion, Carter ignored him and Iran became an Islamic theocracy after the Shah was overthrown. Thanks to Carter's ignorance, Iran has now become a grave threat to the entire world.

And now, even though this is going to infuriate some people, I'm going to say it anyway: Carter is reaping what he's sown. That' not my opinion. That's a biblical tenet. Here's what the apostle Paul wrote in his epistle to the early church in Galatia: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Galatians 6:7-8)

While Paul was speaking about God's judgment on those who willfully disobey Him by breaking His laws, the apostle referenced a spiritual truth that everyone ultimately gets what they deserve. To the early Roman church, Paul wrote this: "To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism." (Romans 2:7-11)

Carter's anti-Semitism is legendary. Until Barack Obama occupied the White House, Carter was the most anti-Israel president in the history of the United States. Rabbi Shmuley Boteach wrote this for the Observer about a year ago: Mr. Carter said in 2006 that Israel’s policies in the West Bank were actually worse than apartheid South Africa. He followed this disgusting libel with his infamous 2009 book “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy,” in which he claimed that due to “powerful political, economic, and religious forces in the U.S., Israeli government decisions are rarely questioned or condemned, voices from Jerusalem dominate our media.” We’re skirting awfully close to a protocols-of-Zion style argument here, that the Jews control the media and American foreign policy.

In 2006, Carter also made this preposterous claim during an interview with Der Spigel: I don't think that Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon. What happened is that Israel is holding almost 10,000 prisoners, so when the militants in Lebanon or in Gaza take one or two soldiers, Israel looks upon this as a justification for an attack on the civilian population of Lebanon and Gaza. I do not think that's justified, no.

No one knows how many prisoners Israel holds--not even Carter. And yet he concocted the figure of 10,000 to justify his contempt for the Jewish nation. For several years, Israel has been inundated with rocket attacks that have come from Lebanon and Gaza. Thus, the Jewish nation has bombed Lebanon and Gaza to destroy those rockets and the terrorists that launch them. Some of those rockets have destroyed schools, homes and businesses in Israel. That's a fact that continually escapes Carter.

Or, maybe Carter ignores that fact because he loathes Israel. Whatever his reasons are for habitually condemning Israel while siding with Israel's enemies, his reasons aren't based on factual and historical evidence. Rather, they're based on personal animus. 

I don't know where Carter stands with God. He promotes himself as a bible-believing Christian, but he doesn't sound like one. I hope he examines himself thoroughly during his last days on earth, because he has a lot of repenting to do. And I sincerely hope he changes his heart toward the Jews and Israel before he takes his final breath.

When God is Irrelevant

What does the world look like without the presence of God? What does the world look like without the fear of God and the knowledge of his laws and commandments? And what becomes of human beings who reject God?

The apostle Paul gave us that answer nearly 2,000 years ago in his epistle to the early church in Rome. The Roman Empire of Paul's time had many gods, but rejected any notion that there was only one true God who revealed His laws and commandments through Moses and His prophets. Absent that reality, human beings were left to determine what was right in their own eyes.

That created chaos and anarchy. When human beings become willfully ignorant of God, they descend into the deepest depths of depravity. Here's what Paul wrote: "Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them." (Romans 1:28-32)

History teaches us a clear lesson concerning those who turn away from God. From the ancient Ninevites to recent entities such as Nazi Germany, Communist China, Cambodia and the Soviet Union, atheism has always led to depravity, hopelessness, persecution, and mass murder. When people refuse to believe that they're held morally accountable by God for their behavior, they inevitably sink into depravity, violence and bloodshed.

We learned that lesson yet again recently when the Center for Medical Progress released a series of videos showing officials from Planned Parenthood discussing the sale of body parts from unborn babies with CMP employees who posed as buyers. The CMP videos are both shocking and disgusting. It's disgusting to hear adults dehumanize the unborn into commodities to be chopped up and sold, and it's shocking to hear them describe the procedures that Planned Parenthood uses to extract body parts from the unborn.

Those Planned Parenthood officials are no different than the Nazis who dehumanized the Jews and other groups they persecuted during Adolf Hitler's reign of hell in Germany during the 1930s and 40s. And America's embarrassing indifference to the videos and the barbaric procedures discussed in those videos leads us to the painful conclusion that America has turned her back on God and is about to be judged by Him.

No nation that has murdered 55 million unborn babies since abortion was legalized in 1973 is going to continue to survive and prosper. No nation that's legalized the abomination of same-sex marriage can escape God's judgment. And no nation throughout history that's persecuted Jews and Christians has survived for very long.

What does America need to do? She needs to repent by repealing Rove v. Wade and same-sex marriage. She needs to stop betraying Israel and persecuting Christians. And she needs to repent soon because time is running out.

What will happen to America if she refuses to repent? She's going to experience violent hurricanes, blizzards and tornadoes; damaging earthquakes, extensive forest fires, floods, intense heat waves and devastating droughts. Her economy will collapse; her cities will become crime-ridden sewers and she will be threatened with nuclear destruction by nations such as Russia and China.

Don't think that will happen? Then you'd better think again. It's coming.

What's the solution? It's repentance from sin and the acknowledgment of the true sovereign God of the universe who revealed Himself 2,000 years ago through His Son Jesus Christ. That acknowledgment must include the honor and respect for God's laws and commandments rather than a revival of religiosity. America needs more genuine faith in God rather than more religion.

Nearly 3,000 years ago, the Lord spoke these words to King Solomon who sought His blessing upon the ancient land of Israel: "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)

That's how America can prevent God's wrath from coming upon the land. And that's the only way.
